When an hour a week just isn't the best fit...

Wayfinding Intensives

Imagine you're hiking through unfamiliar mountains. Every hour, just as you've found the trail again, someone asks you to stop, go home, and return next week.

Eventually you'd reach your destination—but much of your energy would be spent reorienting yourself instead of continuing the journey.

Therapy can sometimes feel that way.

Weekly therapy is the right pace for many people. But there are seasons when uninterrupted time creates different possibilities.

When you're navigating trauma, grief, a cancer diagnosis, a relationship crisis, or another significant life transition, it can be difficult to build momentum when meaningful work pauses just as you're beginning to reach something important. Wayfinding Intensives create the time and space to stay with the work, allowing insight, emotional processing, and new ways of responding to unfold naturally.

Why "Wayfinding"?

Wayfinding is the art of orienting yourself after you've been disoriented.

It isn't about finding the perfect path or knowing exactly where you're going. It's about understanding where you are, reconnecting with what matters most, and taking the next step with greater awareness, flexibility, and intention.

That philosophy is at the heart of this work.

My role isn't to tell you which direction to go. It's to help you find your bearings so you can move forward in a way that feels authentic, aligned, and truly your own.

What is a Wayfinding Intensive?

A Wayfinding Intensive is a customized therapeutic experience designed around a specific goal or area of focus.

Rather than spreading that work across many weeks of brief sessions, we create dedicated, uninterrupted time to engage it more deeply. Every intensive is thoughtfully tailored to your needs, your strengths, your learning style, and the questions that have brought you here. There is no predetermined curriculum or one-size-fits-all program.

For most people, this work is best accomplished over three consecutive days, allowing enough time to settle into the process, build momentum, and begin integrating new insights before returning home. In some situations, a shorter format may be appropriate, depending on your goals.

Wayfinding Intensives are private, one-on-one therapy experiences. Most days include approximately six hours of therapeutic work, balanced with time for rest, reflection, meals, and integration. The pace is intentional. Lasting change isn't created by pushing harder—it's created by having enough space for meaningful work to unfold.

What does the experience include?

Every Wayfinding Intensive is different, but each is carefully designed around your unique goals.

Depending on your needs, our work may include:

  • Evidence-based trauma-informed psychotherapy
  • Cognitive and emotional processing
  • Mindfulness and reflective practices
  • Embodied awareness and experiential exercises
  • Practical planning for life beyond the intensive

When appropriate, we may also incorporate time outdoors, movement, expressive art, or other experiential practices that support learning and integration. Every element is selected intentionally because it serves your treatment goals—not because it follows a predetermined schedule.

Who are Wayfinding Intensives for?

Wayfinding Intensives are designed for adults who want the opportunity to engage in focused, in-person therapeutic work around a significant life challenge, transition, or area of personal growth.

They may be especially helpful if you're navigating:

  • Trauma or PTSD
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship betrayal, separation, or divorce
  • A cancer diagnosis or another significant medical illness
  • Major life transitions or identity shifts
  • Burnout
  • Anxiety related to a specific life challenge
  • Longstanding patterns that feel difficult to change
  • Feeling stuck despite previous therapy

Whether you live locally or are traveling from another state, the intensive format offers the opportunity to step away from the demands of daily life and devote uninterrupted time to meaningful therapeutic work.

Is a Wayfinding Intensive right for me?

A Wayfinding Intensive may be a good fit if you're looking for the time and space to focus deeply on something that feels important.

You don't have to be in crisis—or even looking for long-term therapy—to benefit from an intensive. Many people choose this format because they want to engage thoughtfully with a particular challenge, experience, or transition in a way that simply isn't possible within the rhythm of weekly sessions.

For some, an intensive is a meaningful standalone experience. Others choose to continue with occasional or ongoing outpatient therapy afterward to support continued growth and integration. Because every person's goals are different, we'll discuss together what kind of follow-up, if any, makes the most sense for you.

If you're already working with a therapist, an intensive may also provide an opportunity to focus deeply on a particular area of work while continuing your established therapeutic relationship. With your permission, I'm happy to collaborate with your therapist to help ensure continuity of care.

The best way to determine whether a Wayfinding Intensive is the right fit is through an initial consultation. Together, we'll explore what has brought you here, what you're hoping to accomplish, and whether this format is the best way to support your goals.

What happens afterward?

Healing doesn't end when the intensive concludes.

Before you leave, we'll develop a plan for integrating what you've learned into your daily life. Depending on your needs, that may include follow-up sessions with me, returning to your ongoing therapist, or simply allowing yourself time to practice and build on the work we've begun.

The goal of a Wayfinding Intensive isn't simply to create insight for a few days. It's to help you carry that insight forward with greater clarity, confidence, and intention as you continue your journey.
