I'm a psychologist by profession, but a curious human by nature.
Long before I ever thought about becoming a psychologist, music shaped the way I experienced the world. I grew up studying classical music, spending many hours listening, observing, and learning that some of the most meaningful communication happens without words. Looking back, I think those early years taught me something I still rely on every day: how to pay attention.
As I got older, my interests expanded beyond music and toward understanding people. I became fascinated by the question of how we become who we are and how we continue becoming throughout our lives, even after difficult experiences. That interest led me to study Human Development and Psychology, where my doctoral work focused on the developmental impact of trauma. My research and community partnerships eventually took me to Latin America, where I helped build and later led an international nonprofit serving children and families experiencing significant adversity. Those years reinforced something I continue to believe today: while our experiences shape us, they do not define the limits of who we can become.
Over time, I realized that while I loved studying human development and leading organizations, I missed the opportunity to work alongside people more directly. Advanced clinical training allowed me to build on that foundation, bringing together a developmental perspective with the depth and privilege of one-on-one clinical work.
Since then, my career has taken me into hospitals, universities, nonprofit organizations, private practice, and healthcare leadership. Each role has broadened my perspective, but all have reinforced my belief in people's remarkable capacity to adapt, grow, and continue becoming throughout their lives.
Outside the therapy office, you'll usually find me exploring trails, creating art in the woods, plotting my next adventure somewhere in the world, or negotiating the number of times I'm willing to throw the tennis ball for my Australian Shepherd. I'm also rediscovering my love of making music, this time with a little less perfectionism and a lot more joy.
